Constructed on the site of a former weapons manufacturing facility (thus the name "Dynamite" for the championship tees) Dupont, Washington's Home CourseThe Home Course #2 was built as one of the last ripples of the course construction tsunami that struck Western Washington, and indeed much of the country, in the late-1990's to early-2000's.  But, thankfully the wave reached these fair shores, because The Home Course is a gem of a layout.

Designed by local architect and course owner, Mike Asmundson, The Home Course provides a fun and somewhat unique challenge in the area.  And, like it's nearest golf neighbor, Chambers Bay, The Home Course provides views of nearby Puget Sound -- though somewhat less frequently than those at Chambers.  The The Home Course #7 course is more open and far less-wooded than most local tracks, so lost balls are rare.  But there is plenty of challenge here, with tees that run from over 7400 yards at the tips, to gorgeously mounded fairways and greens, to the beautifully sculpted bunkers and occasional knee-high fescue rough.  The Home Course is truly a not-to-be-missed experience for all visiting golfers.

The self-annointed "Home of Golf in the Northwest," The Home Course is jointly owned by the Washington State Golf Association and the Pacific Northwest Golf Association.  The goal here is provide challenge, beauty, and conditioning equal to any private course in the area, but at a competitive daily fee rate.  TheThe Home Course #17 course also conducts environmental and turfgrass research, along with caddy and junior golf programs.  Despite this local focus, The Home Course has been recognized nationally with a number of awards including GolfWeek's listing as the #2 public course in the state!  And The Home Course will be the assisting course to Chambers Bay for the August 2010 United States Amateur Championship -- which means that each competitor will complete a round of stroke play here prior to the match play portion of the event.

No, the best amateur players in the world will not miss playing The Home Course, and neither should you.  Be sure it's on your playlist when contacting Northwest Golf Tours -- you will not regret it!
